Our Story

The Doctors Putnoi

The Putnoi family has been practicing comprehensive ophthalmic care in the community since the early 1970’s.

Dr. Donald Putnoi, now retired, worked in the Waltham office for four decades providing compassionate care to his patients. Dr. Eric Putnoi has been providing top quality care to patients since 2001.

He joined his father’s practice in 2005 and officially incorporated Putnoi Eye Care in 2012.  In 2013, Dr. Eric Putnoi began working part-time at Fischer Eye Care in Wellesley with Dr. Heidi Fischer, who sold her Wellesley practice to Dr. Eric Putnoi in 2016.  Dr. Eric Putnoi is board-certified in ophthalmology and is the chief ophthalmologist, cataract surgeon and director of Putnoi Eye Care

Doctors Fischer and Putnoi

In the fall of 2018, the Wellesley office relocated in the same building, doubling its size, to provide care in a modern, spacious location. Currently Dr. Putnoi balances his time between two Putnoi Eye Care office locations – Wellesley and Waltham – while Dr Heidi Fischer continues to work in our Wellesley location only. Both Dr Putnoi and Dr. Fischer maintain privileges at Newton Wellesley Hospital and are affiliated with the Partners Healthcare network.  In addition, Dr. Putnoi utilizes the surgical facilities at SURGIsite Boston and Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary.  Dr. Fischer utilizes SURGIsite Boston for her surgical procedures.

Our doctors are committed to continuing care for our long-time patients, as well as welcoming new patients to our Waltham and Wellesley Hills locations.  Our physicians specialize in comprehensive and/or diabetic eye exams, the evaluation and management of Cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, and other eye diseases.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for entrusting us with your care. We look forward to meeting all your eye care needs.  If there is anything we can do to make your visit more positive, informative or pleasurable, please let us know.
